Job Overview & Responsibilities

The Vice President, Technical Solutions & Strategy is responsible for shaping, driving, and executing the organization’s overarching technology vision and solution strategy.  The Vice President, Technical Solutions & Strategy develops and maintains a unified vision for Emergent’s technology strategy and go-to-market messaging, understands and leverages current technologies, and evaluates new and emerging technologies to incorporate within the Emergent suite of offerings. This role collaborates closely with partners, product teams, sales, delivery, and operations to accelerate solution deployment, ensure technology excellence, and maximize customer and stakeholder value. while driving subscription consumption through accelerated adoption.

 

In this leadership role, the Vice President, Technical Solutions & Strategy is responsible for managing and growing Emergent’s consulting and product business through hiring, training, developing, leading and managing a team of Enterprise Architects, Solution Architects, and Product Managers in the development innovative solution offerings and resulting statements of work, proposals, quotes, BOMs, and solutions that meet our customer and market demands for technology subscriptions and services.   This position is responsible for working with the client to understand and document their business needs and guide the client on a map to success with proper technology solution combinations and implementation plans.  

 

The Vice President, Technical Solutions & Strategy is the most senior technical and business advisor within Emergent who translates business objectives into actionable technology roadmaps that drive revenue growth, operational efficiency, and competitive differentiation.  Additionally, the Vice President, Technical Solutions & Strategy leads cross-functional teams in identifying emerging technologies, architecting integrated solutions, and ensuring alignment with evolving customer needs across Federal, State, Local, Education, and Healthcare

 

Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

  • Enhance enterprise strategy to help the organization clearly articulate corporate value - current and future state to support customer technology consumption strategies, and operational excellence frameworks.
  • Lead cross-functional teams of subject matter experts to help customers design, plan, implement, and govern enterprise solutions on time.
  • Lead and manage the full presales solution architecture lifecycle.
  • Build a trusted advisory relationship with our top strategic customers, helping them to leverage innovative solutions we offer, and technology advancements delivered to transform their business.
  • Oversee the design, integration, and delivery of scalable, mission-focused technology solutions, including cybersecurity, cloud, digital modernization, managed services, enterprise applications, and emerging technologies Hire, develop and manage a team of high-performing, results-oriented senior technical and product presales engineers and architects to support sales, quoting, solutioning, development of roadmaps and blueprints, and packaged solution offerings.
  • Develop consistent technical and business value demonstrations to be leveraged by pre-sales and sales to showcase our solutions and capabilities.
  • Enhance company reputation, credibility, and visibility at technical, customer and partner conferences and events, including speaking engagements.
  • Support company marketing efforts to include blog posts, white papers and marketing and video demonstrations.
  • Maintain expertise by staying current on emerging technologies and technical certifications.
  • Work in close cooperation with all other areas of the organization across the enterprise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of industry experience and 5+ years selling technology and services.
  • 3+ years of working as a CTO/VP of Technology/Enterprise architect/comparable position.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles like field sales, field CTO, CTO, and influencing C-Level decision makers.
  • Expertise in building technology strategies aligned with Cybersecurity, automation, orchestration, multi-cloud, AI/ML, data security, and digital transformation initiatives.

 Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Sound business judgment, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record of taking ownership and leading by example.
  • Versed in enterprise architecture and technology and ability to clearly articulate business architecture (vision, capability models, capability assessments) and technical architecture (current and future state capabilities, strategic roadmaps, solution best practices, reference architectures, design patterns).
  • Proven technical background with a strong understanding of architecture complimented with experience of managing complex enterprise cloud transformations and driving appropriate strategic and pragmatic choices.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, facilitation and advanced presentation skills, with ability to guide and influence senior leaders, customers and other key stakeholders
  • Able to be flexible and agile in responding to evolving business priorities and dealing with ambiguity.
  • Proven record of collaborating with and advising C-Suite teams.
  • Ability to collaborate across the organization and with external stakeholders.
  • Ability to hire, train, develop and manage employees with focus on performance results in a positive team environment.
  • Strong time-management and organizational ability.
  • Strong ability to perform and multitask in a high pace environment.
